How to Go Red Like Pepper Potts
If you're reading this post, chances are you saw Iron Man 2 this weekend—or have plans to do so ASAP—and are lusting after Pepper Potts's (played by the lovely Gwyneth Paltrow) soft, strawberry blond hair. We loved the delicate shade so much that we asked celebrity colorist Marie Robinson (who just opened her own salon in New York City!) everything you need to know to pull it off.
InStyle.com: Who does the shade work for?
MR: Anyone who is fair with pink or yellow undertones in their skin—the color can actually make them look more tan. Only thing is, if your hair is naturally dark brown, it could go brassy very easy. It's really best for those with blond to light brown hair.
InStyle.com: What direction should you give your colorist?
MR: Ask for a strawberry blond with a combination of pink and warm gold tones.
InStyle.com: Any tips for maintenance?
MR: It's actually a pretty low maintenance shade of red so you won't need glosses between touch-ups. If you do find it's fading, add a copper, red-enhancing shampoo to your routine, or rinse with cranberry juice, which will make sure the color stays more rosy than orange.
