Here's How You Can Get Gwyneth Paltrow's Signature Blowout

Next to Twiggy's pixie cut and Brigitte Bardot's lush waves, Gwyneth Paltrow's sleek, center-parted blowout goes down in hair history as one of our favorite iconic looks, and now, you'll no longer have to juggle a round brush with your dryer to recreate it. Paltrow's trademark hairstyle has been added to the menu at Blo Blow Dry Bar, making her effortlessly-tousled waves that much more attainable. The actress and her hairstylist David Babaii teamed up with the salon back in May, and to announce the latest addition in the lookbook, Paltrow got extra-animated in the campaign image above, which was created by Babaii's favorite illustrator Megan Hess. The Gwyneth will be added to Blo's menu in November, along with many more covetable styles, but if you can't wait until then, never fear. We got the step-by-step breakdown from Babaii himself so you can road-test the look before the official launch.

To create what he has dubbed the "swing straight" look, Babaii begins with a light layer of thermal protectant, misting the product from the mid-shaft to the ends before picking up the blow dryer---he recommends using a professional grade version with a nozzle attachment, which pumps out a more uniform temperature flow and will cause less heat damage. After separating hair into sections on either side of the head, top, crown, and nape, he uses a large round brush to blow each area smooth, placing the round brush directly at the root first to create lift. The length is blown pin-straight with a slight bend at the ends, and once the entire head is dry, Babaii gives strands a graphic center part. An additional veil of thermal protectant is added to the top surface and sides before a quick pass of the flat iron, imparting a smooth, mirror-like finish, and a few spritzes of light hold hairspray lock in the effect. To finish, Babaii brushes through the style lightly for soft movement.
