Attention Harry Potter Fans: Real-Life Wizarding School Is Coming to England
Looking to go full-on Hermione?
If a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter just doesn't do it for you, Harry Potter fans will now have the chance to attend a real-life school for wizards and witches in the United Kingdom à la Hogwarts.
Located in East Sussex's Herstmonceux Castle, the Bothwell School of Witchcraft will host weekend-long live-action roleplay experiences for "students" who are 18 years of age and older as of July 2017. Players will have the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire when purchasing their tickets—which will be available on Kickstarter later this month—and their answers will be used to create a character brief for their weekend stay at the castle. Students will be given robes and ties to wear during their stay, where they will be sorted into their school houses, attend magic classes, celebrate at a banquet, and dance the night away at a dazzling ball. However, the school is strictly BYOW—Bring Your Own Wand.
But don't expect to see a gaggle of Harrys or Rons walking around the corridors—acting as the famed Harry Potter characters isn't allowed. "The Bothwell School of Witchcraft is set in an entirely different universe and time with entirely new characters and new plots," their website reads.
The school will hold its first weekend event in August—tickets will cost around $500 and go on sale when the Kickstarter launches on March 28. The price includes meals and lodging for two nights at the castle. Watch the video above to get a glimpse of what a weekend at the wizarding school is going to be like.
