For one, her return to acting in Lee Daniel's The Butler has earned her acclaim and a best supporting actress Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. And in November, she was one of 16 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom—the highest civilian honor in the United States (fellow recipients included former President Bill Clinton and feminist icon Gloria Steinem).

Earlier in the year, Oprah—whose net worth is an astonishing $2.9 billion according to Forbes—landed the worldwide exclusive interview with disgraced Tour de France champ Lance Armstrong, which aired on her OWN network.
