The actress and lifestyle guru known for her perfectionist streak(s)—blond or otherwise—gets candid about taming her mane, keeping her glow, and being a late bloomer on the bold lip front.

As the poster girl for gorgeous natural color and perfect blowouts, you're going to have to share your list of must-have hair products.Well, there's a brand of shampoo that I love called It's a 10. It really helps with frizz.

Did you just say frizz?I did. My hair is super-frizzy. Why do you think I opened a blow-dry bar in my gym? [Laughs]

What about your skin? It's looking great from where I sit, but maybe I should be asking you about cover-up.I'm bad at putting on my own makeup. But I've tried in the past couple of years to be better about taking care of my skin. I get a facial once a week, if I can, and do basic things like exercise daily and drink lots of water. The weekly facial sounds pretty nice. It's hard-core—squeezing, peeling, microdermabrasion, and lasers! I use an oil by my facialist in L.A., Sonya Dakar. It adds a nice little glow.

Any favorite niche brands you've recently discovered? I know you've featured some globe-trotting beauty finds on Goop.I'm really into Tata Harper products right now. Have you heard of her?

A friend gave me her anti-irritability ointment once. Was that a hint? [Laughs] I love all of her body oils, scrubs, and bath salts.

Are you a big bath person?Every night. Every single night. I can't sleep without one.

You tend to keep your makeup pretty natural. If you had to choose a bold look, what would it be?As I get older, I'm starting to see the value of a bright lip.
