To mark International Day of the Girl, dedicated to advancing rights and opportunities for girls everywhere, on Sunday, proud mom Gwyneth Paltrow posted a touching Instagram tribute to her 11-year-old daughter, Apple.

"Apple Martin, thank you for being my number one girl, the girl who inspires me to be my best every day of my life #whoruntheworld," she wrote in the post, which included a photo of what appears to be Apple and her younger brother, Moses, watching their mother perform a handstand on the grass:

And Paltrow's tribute extended to all young women, not just her own. "Today, on #InternationalGirlsDay I encourage us all to nurture, support, love and empower all of the girls in our lives," she also wrote. "Let us have the strength to let them emerge as who they are meant to be. Let's selflessly pass down any wisdom we have been fortunate enough to accumulate thus far. And most of all let's just get the heck out of their way, this next generation is going to change everything."

Paltrow also posted a selfie of herself with her daughter at the beach captioned with the hastags "#girls" and "#InternationalGirlsDay." In the snap, the star shows off her natural beauty with a fresh-faced look and loose waves while Apple appears cool with a pair of mirrored shades and her hair tied back:
