Did Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Allude to an Infamous Affair in their New Music Video?
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are sure making it feel like Christmas — and what kind of Christmas would it be without a festive reminder of one of America’s most infamous affairs?
Stefani and Shelton’s 2017 holiday bop “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” is, at long last, receiving a music video companion, and, naturally, it features the (possibly) expectant parents being domestic in some wonderfully retro garb.
With the No Doubt alum’s platinum locks bobbed in a Marilyn Monroe-esque ‘do and paired with her signature red lip and a thin glittering gown, Stefani is a dead ringer for the icon during her sultry birthday serenade to then-president John F. Kennedy.
Of course, Monroe has long been rumored to have had an affair with Kennedy, though the only documented photo of them together is from that very evening of her performance.
It's unclear whether Stefani had intended to create the parallel with her music video look, but if so, it’s an interesting choice considering that both Gwen and Blake’s former marriages (to Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, respectively) were rumored to have been broken up by third parties.
So … vicious subtweet or accidental allusion? You be the judge.
