We've already learned that Emma Watson is our Belle, and Dan Stevens, our Beast, in the much-anticipated live-action remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and now we have another name to a face (or rather, an animated household object): Gugu Mbatha-Raw is set to play Plumette the feather duster.
Variety reports that the up-and-coming Beyond the Lights actress will play the sassy maid who transformed into a duster as a victim to the Beast's love curse. She's also the subject of candlestick Lumière's affections. Mbatha-Raw's version of the character has been renamed from previous adaptations, in which she was dubbed both Babette and Fifi.
Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson have also been tapped to join the household staff of Beast's palace, as Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts. Meanwhile, Luke Evans will play Gaston, completing a so far all-British lineup.
The movie comes on the tail of the recently released live-action version of Cinderella, starring Cate Blanchett and Lily James, which didn't fail to make the fairytale a reality. And while the new version of Beauty and the Beast has a lot to live up to with the 1991 animation having grossed more than $375 million worldwide, with a cast this stellar, we've high hopes that the tale as old as time will do it justice!
