Greta Gerwig, star of Maggie’s Plan and Weiner-Dog at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, has had above-the-shoulder hair for several months now. Short hair can be tricky, so when we caught up with her on Main Street in Park City during the fest, we had to know how she keeps her 'do looking fresh. “For me, styling short hair is much easier,” Gerwig (in Proenza Schouler) told us when we chatted inside the Acura Studio Lounge. “I have wavy, fine hair that’s sticky-uppy. I don’t do anything to it.”

So what’s her routine? “I get out of the shower, rub it with a towel, I put Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine Cream ($24, through it and let it air dry,” she said. “It looks awesome every single time, which is a gift.”

For the indie darling, it’s easier to maintain than longer strands. “When I had long hair, I felt it was always an issue,” she said. “I ended up putting it up anyway. Having short hair is very easy for me. But I also tell my hairstylist every time I get it cut that I won’t do anything to it, so I want something that I don’t have to do anything to. I won’t blow dry it. I might not even comb it! So I just need something that works.”

As for the color, she’s calling it a shade called “normal again," she said with a smile. “I’ve been coming back from a bright red that I had for a movie, which is hard because the only thing between red and blonde is orange, which is what I was for a while,” she said. “But honestly, I haven’t known what my real hair color is for 20 years.”
