This season, The Good Wifes costume designer Dan Lawson is exclusively giving InStyle readers tips for what to wear to work, inspired by the characters’ ensembles on the show.

While we absolutely love the Golden Globe-nominated Julianna Margulies as lawyer Alicia Florrick on The Good Wife, her colleague Diane Lockhart's looks (played by Christine Baranski) during the Jan. 11 episode caught our attention as total work outfit inspiration—particularly, her turquoise wool suit by Lafayette 148.

Costume designer Dan Lawson told InStyle he chose this design because of its unique collar. "It brought attention to her face without competing with what she was saying," he explained. "I also loved how the neckline gave me the opportunity to use what I affectionately call 'secret jewelry,'" he added, "which is my name for any kind of jewelry that is just tucked under the neckline to add a little pop to the look."

Your tip: Don't be afraid of some bling things in the office. “When you need a little extra something for that special meeting, go for a neckline that is clever and unique and brings the attention to your face,” he said.
