This season, The Good Wifes costume designer Dan Lawson is exclusively giving InStyle tips for what to wear to work, inspired by the characters’ ensembles on the show.

On this week's episode of The Good Wife, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) kicked up her run for State Attorney. And a woman like that knows how to dress—well, with a little help from the show’s costume designer Dan Lawson. This week he skipped the traditional collared blouse in favor of a white silk top by Emilio Pucci, which he layered under a vibrant cobalt wool jacket by Antonio Berardi.

“This is a great way to break free of the masculine-looking workforce and exert your powerful feminine side,” says Lawson. “This piece showed just enough décolletage to say, ‘I'm elegant and feminine, but don't try to outmaneuver me!’”

Your tip: “Channel your powerful feminine side with a beautiful collarless blouse that will give you a sleek and elegant look," says Lawson. "It's an easy way to set you apart from the crowd."
