As the first major awards show of the year, the Golden Globes sets the precedent for the rest of the season when it comes to red carpet fashion. From what we can tell, the color that will dominate 2016 is technically not even a color—it's white. A-list stars swept the carpet in gowns in every shape, style, and form—each washed in the same unsaturated shade.

Golden Globes nominee Alicia Vikander was a vision in a custom sequined Louis Vuitton gown with sweet ruffles along the edges and sharp pleats, instantly winning everyone's fave of the night. Taraji P. Hensen struck a fierce pose in her minimalist Stella McCartney column, while Saoirse Ronan channeled her inner Grecian goddess in a handmade draped Saint Laurent Couture creation.

Laverne Cox epitomized elegance in a custom backless ivory Elizabeth Kennedy gown with a fishtail train, while Jane Fonda made a statement in an ivory Saint Laurent column featuring a hand-beaded ruffled cape. Instead of committing to an all-white number, Eva Longoria went with a Georges Hobeika design trimmed with florals and beads.
