On the fall 2015 runways, designers blanketed boots, bags, and dresses in the plushiest winter fabrics out there—crushed velvet. Judging by the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet, it looks like the trend is still going strong.

Lady Gaga broke away from her out-there fashion theatrics and went for Old Hollywood glam, channeling Marilyn Monroe in a black velvet off-the-shoulder Versace gown, complete with diamond Neil Lane cuffs on each wrist. Kirsten Dunst, though, took a sexier approach, giving the cold-weather fabric a smokin' hot spin with a Valentino couture creation featuring a navel-plunging neckline.

Last but not least, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, was the trendiest gent on the red carpet in his violet smoking jacket and matching velvet slippers. Hot!
