Go Bold This Spring With Fuchsia Lips—Here's How to Pull Off the Look
Negative wind chill aside, spring is on our radar, and with it, fun lip colors that will put a pep in your step. At Carolina Herrera’s spring/summer 2015 show, models walked the runway in daffodil yellow and petal-strewn gowns topped off with fuchsia lips, proving the bold shade is as versatile as the classic red.
To make the vivid hue really pop, dab concealer on lips and allow to dry. As with bleaching hair prior to color application, this allows color to stand out. From there, pulling off the look follows the same method as your standard lipstick wardrobe. Apply lip liner for a precise shape before applying lipstick or gloss and set off the look with subtle makeup, like a flick of winged liner.
New fuchsia formulas, like NARS Funny Face Semi Matte Lipstick ($27; sephora.com) and Too Faced's Melted Liquid Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Fuchsia ($20; sephora.com) give the look a modern touch, and are foolproof once warmer weather arrives. Proving fuchsia is, in fact, the color of the season, Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Maharajah collection for spring (available now at fine retailers and at armanibeauty.com in March) takes inspiration from bold Indian embroideries and is based entirely on the shade, with the collection's lip and nail colors all within three variations of fuchsia.
