Globes Gone Bridal: White-Hot Wedding Trends from the Red Carpet
This year's Golden Globes were bursting with black-tie bridal inspiration, from classic Hollywood glamour and white-hot dresses to head-to-toe shimmer and jaw-dropping sex appeal. InStyle broke down the best celebrity-inspired cues for wedding day style:
Gone Girl Glitter
Queen of Glam, J.Lo, stole the spotlight with her stunningly sexy Zuhair Murad gown with a shimmering lattice design. The one-of-a-kind silhouette cinched her body in all the right places and made a major style statement with its dramatic cape. Girls, with this gown no veil is necessary! Glitter also made an appearance with other shimmering beauties including Kate Beckinsale in Elie Saab and Diane Kruger’s Emilia Wickstead gown.
Wild White Shimmer
If there is any Golden Globe dress expected to appear on the wedding aisle later this season, it would have to be Reese Witherspoon’s glistening Calvin Klein gown. The structured strapless gown with tiny white square sequins was both classic and contemporary. And Witherspoon’s styling with a glamorous side-swept down-do and understated accessories made this look effortless and glamorous all at once.
Silver and Statuesque
Looking to break the bridal gown mold? Step out of the white box and sparkle in mirror-like metallics on your big day. Best Lead Actress winner Julianne Moore inspired us all in her gilded silver Givenchy couture gown with a flirty feather hem. And Anastasia Steele---we mean, Dakota Johnson---turned heads in sparkling shades of platinum and grey in her high-low Chanel gown.
If you’re a sexy bride, look no further than to Kate Hudson for your inspiration! The Fabletics founder looked super sexy in Versace gown with a can’t-miss V-neckline and seductive cutouts that wrapped around at the waist. A bit more modest? Get inspired by Into the Woods star Emily Blunt’s Grecian gown by Michael Kors. The criss-cross bodice revealed the just a touch of skin---and the star’s very toned tummy.
Blushing Beaded Beauties
Pink returns to bridal inspiration for another season, and we blushed with delight when we spotted Chrissy Teigen in a Zuhair Muhad gown. Both vintage-evoked and undeniably fresh, Mrs. Legend’s petal pink long-sleeved sheath took laser-cut lace to new dimensions with intricate eye-catching beading. Consider Chrissy’s simple styling---a sweeping pony tail and studs---for a fun, feminine bridal beauty look. Our applause also goes to Anna Faris for her sheer pink Reem Acra gown---and arm candy (Chris Pratt).
We loved the touch of peekaboo lace at the sweetheart neckline on Giuliana Rancic’s satin gown by Maria Lucia Hohan. The clean and crisp gown combined structured simplicity with big skirt drama! Salma Hayek wore strapless well with a white brocade ballgown by Alexander McQueen. Brides, take note: She completed the look with a metallic belt, diamond drop earrings and a bold McQueen knuckleduster clutch!
Thanks to Foxcatcher and American Sniper, Sienna Miller is back on the scene and looking gorgeous in a vintage-inspired Miu Miu embroidered satin gown. Loaded with 360-degree drama, the gown’s plunging V-neckline and stunningly sheer back would be sure to catch attention from every direction.
You can always trust Best Actress nominee Julia Louis Dreyfus to bring good fashion to the red carpet, and this year, she did not disappoint. The Veep star wore a Narciso Rodriguez asymmetrical sheath featuring a modern one-shoulder neckline. Brides looking to achieve her modern, timeless look should take a note of her styling: long sleek hair, a bare neck, gorgeous drop earrings and Edie Parker clutch.
