Gigi Hadid Wears Those Detachable Jeans That Went Viral
Everything old always comes back around in fashion!
Although they've been around for centuries as key clothing for Spanish and Mexican cattle herders, chaps have since found homes in widely varying areas of fashion, from the leather subculture of N.Y.C.'s gay male population circa the 1960s to Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty" music video from 2002. And now Gigi Hadid is now introducing them to Generation Z in a super cool and casual way.
Though New York City temperatures rose past the 80-degree mark on Saturday, the model appeared unfazed while taking a stroll on the sidewalk. She paired her Y-Project chaps-inspired pants (which are being marketed as convertible by the brand), with a regular white T-shirt. An exotic snake belt by the label, a matching lizard top handle Jason Stalvey bag, and Aquazzura pumps (worn with the shoe straps tied around her pant legs) were the perfect complements to her understated, yet cool look.
Social media had a complete field day with the detachable jeans last month and even though there were endless jokes and a comparison to the male romper at the time, they look pretty chic on Hadid, no?
If you've always wanted a pair of chaps in your closet, now is as good a time as any.
