GIF Guide: Three Easy Steps to a Deep Side Part Like Emma Watson's
Emma Watson's dynamic looks at each of the recent Noah premieres have been serving up serious style inspiration, but her gowns aren't the only things that caught our attention! Next to her pop-of-color lipstick, her deep side part is one trend we were eager to try out, and we think the effect is an easy way to upgrade your 'do when you're short on time.
Side parts are nothing new, but the version worn by Watson holds a fashion-forward edge, and is basically everything we'd want in a look—it makes major impact with minimal effort. All you need is a tail comb, a handful of bobby pins, and a "divide and conquer" attitude to master it. Check out our user-friendly GIF guide below, along with key tips to getting the look.
Start with your hair parted as you normally do, then pick up your tail comb to form the separation. "Use your eyebrows as a guide for placement," says celebrity hairstylist Ricardo Rojas, who has worked with Eva Longoria and Jessica Chastain. "Raise your eyebrows and use the comb to divide a section, starting at the area where the high point of your brow intersects your hair."
Once the part is in place, sweep the remainder of your hair toward the back of your head, and fasten into place using hair pins. While Watson went for a red-carpet effect by using metallic clips, traditional bobby pins will do the trick. We picked a shade that blended with our highlights for a streamlined take on the look. A final spritz of hairspray, while optional, will lock out humid elements and hold the style in place.
