Fact: Reese Witherspoon’s makeup continues to be flawless red carpet after red carpet, and the neutral-toned look she wore to the Critics' Choice Movie Awards last night was no exception. Witherspoon paired the effect with a voluminous blowout and a pink colorblocked Lanvin number that would do Elle Woods proud, which her makeup artist Molly Stern used as a starting point.

"I wanted her look to be simple, clean, and modern to offset the stunning gown," she says. Stern began by prepping the star's skin with a layer of Natura Bisse The Cure Pure Serum ($260;, then used a small amount of Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation ($75; to even out tone. Armed with a brush dipped in an apricot blush, she then contoured Witherspoon's cheekbones, sweeping the powder upwards to diffuse the color.

For the eye, Stern wanted to create a fresh, earthy effect, and began with a base layer of the Diorshow Fusion Matte shadow in Mirage ($31;, working the color on the lids and into the crease, then followed by blending Nars eye shadow in Blondie ($25; to impart a subtle smolder. With Jillian Dempsey's Khol Liner in Jet Black ($20;, she traced the star's upper and lower lash lines, then softened the appearance by smudging it out. After a few coats of black mascara, Stern swept on the Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands ($9; to finish the look.
