Get The Look: Miley Cyrus's MTV VMAs Punky Pompadour

Now that's one way to pump up the volume! Last night at the 2012 MTV VMAs, Miley Cyrus transformed her edgy crop into a sky-high pompadour. Although it makes for a perfect red carpet statement, the style is also a fun option for longer pixie styles, or strands that are in the growing-out process. Start by spritzing a root lift spray onto damp strands, then blow-dry using your hands. Make sure to lift the hair upwards to build up the volume on top. Once most of the moisture is gone, use a boar bristle hairbrush to finish up and give the style extra height. Depending on how tall you want to make your pompadour, begin backcombing your strands at the roots, then conceal it by sweeping a layer of un-teased hair over the top. Smooth a pomade along the sides of your head to mold the style, and after a final mist of hairspray, you're good to go!
