Lucky for us, Gabrielle Union wasted no time whipping up an Instagram account for her baby girl, Kaavia James Union Wade, complete with comical captions and a whole lot of newborn side eye.

Since welcoming her via surrogate with husband Dwyane Wade earlier this month, Union has been busy documenting her adventures with her precious newborn on her own Instagram account as well, but the actress's most recent post has stirred up some concern from fans.

The 46-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday to share an adorable photo of Wade, 36, kissing their newborn daughter on the lips. In the photo, Kaavia gazes up at the basketball star as he lovingly plants a kiss on her with his eyes closed. The Being Mary Jane star captioned the post, “@dwyanewade & @kaaviajames = My #MCM & My #ShadyBaby … Kaav is like 'trust ain’t my strong suit… close your eyes if you want to.' "

While many fans praised the sweet moment between Wade and his baby girl, there were many people who raised their concerns about the specific form of affection.

“Don’t kiss that baby on the mouth… Newborns can’t deal with sickness because of their immune system,” said one user, insinuating that it's dangerous to kiss an infant on the mouth because our mouths are dirty.

So, is there any truth to this claim? The short answer is, yes. Apparently, kissing a baby on the lips can be very dangerous, sometimes even fatal. Last year, CNN reported that a baby who was less than a week old contracted meningitis after she was kissed by a relative who was infected with the Herpes Simplex Virus.

“The first two months after a child is born are very critical, as a virus can rapidly spread and cause serious illness in newborns,” Dr. Tanya Altmann, a pediatrician at Calabasas Pediatrics, told CNN.

Given how irresistibly cute babies are, it’s hard not to want to shower them with kisses. Though, to be on the safe side, it may be best to refrain from kissing your baby on the lips until they are a bit older.

While it’s great that Union’s fans are concerned about Kaavia’s health, ultimately how the couple decides to show affection with their child is up to them.
