According to Lisa Kudrow, they've even already filmed a few things. On Rob Lowe's podcast, Literally with Rob Lowe, Kudrow said, "There's different facets to it, and we already shot packages of things. I pre-shot something for it already so we're definitely doing it because I already shot a little something." She also said production is likely to begin in early Spring of 2021. The star is also reminding us that it is not a reboot. "It's not, like, a scripted thing. We're not portraying our characters. It's us getting together, which just doesn't happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when we stopped," she said on the podcast. "I think it'll be great." UPDATE: 11/12/20 at 1:00 p.m.: If you were worried the COVID-19 pandemic had taken the Friends reunion away from us, don't fret. According to Matthew Perry, there is a new plan in place and it means waiting until next year. On Twitter, he wrote, "Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that's the way I like it!" We've waited this long what's a few more months? UPDATE 5/12/20 at 10:50 a.m.: Anyone disappointed by a delay for the Friends reunion now has a glimmer of hope. WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman, Bob Greenblatt, told Variety that they may start filming by the end of summer. "We’re holding out for being able to get this special done hopefully by the end of the summer if the stars align and hopefully we can get back into production," he told them. "We do think there’s a value to having a big, raucous live audience to experience these six great friends coming back together and we didn’t want to just suddenly do it on a web call with, you know, six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms.” HBO MAX launches on May 27 with all of the old episodes of Friends. Hopefully the reunion will be there just a few months later. Fans have waited more than 15 years for new Friends and it looks like they'll have to wait a little more. Variety reports that the reunion special that was planned for HBO Max will be postponed due to coronavirus concerns. Kudrow said it will likely begin production in early Spring 2021.
