What better way to start your weekend than with a tour of Elizabeth Taylor's private garden? For the star's first posthumous fragrance, perfumer Carlos Benaim drew upon the florals on Taylor's grounds to create White Diamonds Lustre, a fresh, airy take on the classic scent. "I wanted to capture the luxurious essence of the original White Diamonds in a more ethereal fragrance structure," he tells exclusively. "The result stays true to all that Elizabeth Taylor loved -- it's still timeless, but also very modern." The master perfumer based White Diamonds Lustre around Taylor's love of the narcissus flower, and incorporated elegant notes like orange flower, orris, and jasmine with a deep wood and amber base to give the iconic staple a current edge. "The Lustre woman is today's incarnation of the timeless glamour and passionate nature that Elizabeth Taylor personifies and inspires," he adds.

Benaim previously worked with Taylor to create the original White Diamonds fragrance, as well as her now-infamous Violet Eyes scent. After building such a close relationship with the star, he didn't have to look far for inspiration. "My favorite memory of Elizabeth is one of my trips to her home. We met in her living room and spoke at length about her vision for White Diamonds and her love of flowers," he tells us. "She was wearing the legendary Krupp diamond ring and we were surrounded by rare pieces of art, which added to the magic of the experience."

Remixing such a well-renowned scent can come with some added pressure, but Benaim didn't let the stress get to him. "It was a lot of fun! It was a unique opportunity for me to revisit a fragrance that I know so intimately and to rethink it for today's woman," he says. And just as the notes got a modern reboot, so did the flacon -- the perfume is housed in a gorgeous purple bottle, appropriately decked out in diamonds to pay homage to the star's love of jewelry and flowers. "White Diamonds is the classic that it is because Elizabeth Taylor was such an icon," adds Benaim. "After all, diamonds are so timeless and she believed they should be worn every day -- as jewelry and as fragrance." We agree! Find White Diamonds Lustre now priced at $68.
