Digital Studio Just when we started to retire our bold lipsticks from the summer season, Lupita Nyong'O has us wanting to break out the brights to copy her gorgeous fuchsia-toned makeup! At the Los Angeles premiere of 12 Years a Slave, the rising star (and our rising style crush) went with a dramatic eye and lip to mirror the effect of her printed getup. "We were inspired by her spring 2014 Miu Miu dress with a cockatoo print, and the gorgeous orchids at the Four Seasons Hotel, where we got ready for the premiere," said her makeup artist Nick Barose. After creating a flawless canvas, Barose formed a winged-out smoky eye using MAC's Antonio Lopez palette in Violet ($44; maccosmetics.com), concentrating the lighter hues on the inner corners. For her orchid lip, he picked up NARS' lipstick in Full Frontal ($26 each; narscosmetics.com). "It's a bright, yet wearable, violet," Barose added. "It's very purple, but has just enough pink in it so your lips don't look too cold." A sweep of Jouer's Tint in Dahlia ($20; jouercosmetics.com) across the apples of Nyong'O's cheeks tied the look together, and gave her a radiant flush. See more fall makeup looks to try.
