First Look: A New Avengers-Inspired Collection Is Coming Soon
Looking for what to wear to go see Avengers: Age of Ultron? Just in time for the May 1 release in theaters, Marvel teamed with Disney Consumer Products to create a lineup of womenswear inspired by the heroic hotties in the film. The capsule features designs from the first-ever Comic-Con fashion show last summer, including Scarlett Johansson’s replica Black Widow jacket ($65) and red and black shift representing her hourglass symbol ($45), as well as a Stark Industries bomber, a nod to Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.
"Our direction for making this collection wearable in an everyday capacity was to take the unique design elements from each character and translate them onto everyday silhouettes," said Ashley Eckstein, creator of Her Universe, who worked on the collection. "Each character has their own unique colors, symbols and style and we had a lot to work with," added Eckstein. "Symbols are really important with the Avengers, and symbols make for great design elements for patterns or graphics."
In turn, Chris Evan's Captain America shield transformed into a print for a halter dress, as did Chris Hemsworth's Thor hammer, which appears on a sailor-style pin-up dress. "The Captain America dress is perfect for the Fourth of July," explained Eckstein.
The pieces range from $45 to $65, and will be available for pre-sale on hottopic.com starting tomorrow, April 21 and will land in stores mid-May. Who knows, you may just feel like a superhero in one.
