Kerry Washington, Tina Fey, Oprah, and More Unite for the First-Ever United State of Women Summit
Talk about serious girl power. First Lady Michelle Obama only has a few more months left in the White House, and she’s making every moment count. Obama posted a video to Instagram to promote the first-ever United State of Women Summit, and she’s not going about it alone.
From Oprah to Tina Fey, Meryl Streep to Connie Britton, FLOTUS has a squad of powerful women behind her. She even had the occupants of Scandal’s White House—Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young, Katie Lowes, and producer Shonda Rhimes—chime in to get the word out.
Together, we are stronger. Together we can change tomorrow. On June 14th, the @WhiteHouse is convening the first-ever United State of Women Summit to celebrate what we've achieved, and what actions and challenges are still to come. We stand side-by-side with Incredible women who are leveling the playing field around the world - from the silver screen to the sports arena, from non-profits to the financial sector, from the runway to the White House. Now, we turn to ask you to stand with us too. Follow @USWomen2016 and check out theunitedstateofwomen.org to get started today. #StateOfWomen
“We are the United State of Women,” the stars say. “And when we do better, everyone does better.” The first-ever summit, held on June 14, will celebrate what women have achieved and work together to tackle the challenges still in our path. “We stand stronger when we stand together,” Obama says in the video.
“We stand side-by-side with incredible women who are leveling the playing field around the world—from the silver screen to the sports arena, from non-profits to the financial sector, from the runway to the White House. Now we turn to ask you to stand with us too,” Obama captioned the post.
