Felicity Jones in Talks to Star in New Star Wars Spinoff Film
Felicity Jones’s year just continues to get better and better. In addition to being nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress for her work as Jane Hawking in the highly acclaimed film The Theory of Everything, she may have just landed another amazing role. Jones is in serious talks with Lucasfilm and Disney to star as the female lead in a new highly secret, Star Wars stand-alone film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Other actresses, including Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany, have read for the coveted part and Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are in the running for the male lead, THR reports. The spinoff film is scheduled for release on Dec. 16, 2016, about a year after the first Star Wars film in the new series, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, comes out.
In addition to her acting career, Jones has had a stunning fashion season as she makes the award circuit for The Theory of Everything. Some have even said she is this year's Lupita Nyong'o (who will appear in Episode VII). The fashion force is strong with both of them!
Earlier this week she gave InStyle a few hints about what she will wear to the Oscars at the AARP 14th Annual Movies For Grownups Awards Gala, where her film took home the Best Picture prize. "We’re really just starting preparations. I have no idea what the dress is going to be,” Jones tells InStyle. “I’ll probably try on a few dresses, I imagine. There will be a few. But I’ll know when it’s right because you put it on, and it feels comfortable. It fits. And you just go, ‘This is the one!’”
Good luck to Felicity Jones!
