Where do you find inspiration? For interior designer, decorator, and art consultant Maria Brito, ideas stem from spaces and places—from art galleries to cool global destinations. Her latest idea has her bringing together her love of fashion and art with a printed clutch collection featuring the works artists Carlos Rolón (also known as Dzine), Erik Parker, and Kenny Scharf. The bags commemorate the opening day of Frieze New York, a contemporary art fair that includes more than 190 of the world’s leading galleries.

“Each of these artists are stars in their own right with celebrated careers, stellar trajectories, and whose pieces are treasured by some of the most relevant collectors,” Brito tells InStyle.com. "It's exciting that this is the first time these artists have ever done a high-end handbag collaboration like this." The designs on the acrylic bags were printed by employing the same manufacturing techniques used at storied institutions including New York's Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Each clutch is as special as the artists' original pieces: The print on the front of the bags are specifically designed to cure over time, which means the colors will eventually deepen and become brighter. Flip the bags over to their backs and you’ll find etchings with the artists’ signatures.

Twenty limited-edition clutches will be available per artist and they launch exclusively at Kirna Zabête. “When Maria approached us about the collaboration, I knew it would be an ideal fit for the store,” says Beth Buccini, co-founder of the cutting-edge concept retailer. “The artists she chose are not only impressive, but their vision is perfectly suited for this print-focused spring season. Each bag is truly unique—and wearable!”

Brito, who has advised Gwyneth Paltrow and Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs on art purchases, is already in the talks with other artists for designing more bags in the future. Shop the artistic clutches ($895) at Soho boutique Kirna Zabête and kirnazabete.com.
