InStyle happily hopped on the phone with costume designer Susie DeSanto to get the exclusive low down on what to expect from both Rayna (Connie Britton) and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) this season as their rivalry continues on and off stage. “In terms of Juliette, she’s trying to move away from the teeny-bopper look and have more of a sophisticated [style] as she wants to be taken more seriously. This season she will be wearing more serious designers,” Susie tells InStyle. “And I was trying to give the season opener a monochromic look, trying to give the show a little more of a cinematic feel and blend the palette.” Mission accomplished! Click the gallery to get all the details on the season premiere looks and make sure to catch Nashville on Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC.
