Emma Roberts Tells Us the Real Reason She Dyed Her Hair Red
We already knew that Chanel Oberlin on Scream Queens had an influence on how her minions in her sorority looked and dressed—and apparently, on her off-screen persona Emma Roberts as well. Last week, the star took her signature platinum tone to a strawberry red she dubbed "desert rose," partly in preparation for Coachella, but also as a departure from the role. "After playing Chanel on Scream Queens, I took out the extensions. Then, I felt I needed to shed her even more, so I just decided to dye my hair red," she told InStyle at the Vince Camuto Spring Shopping Soiree in Beverly Hills last night. "I've never been red, so I wanted to mix it up. I work with Nikki [Lee] and Riawna [Capri] at NineZeroOne salon, and they're always up for trying new things—I trust them with anything." Considering the stunning work the duo constantly turns out for their celebrity clients, we would, too.
Since shifting her shade, Roberts has been taking style notes from other famous redheads, both real and fictional. "We just wanted to do something sleek, and Jessica Rabbit turned into the inspiration for the hair tonight, and we deepened the lip color," she said of her look for the event. Between that super-deep side part and the soft, touchable curls, the bombshell vibes are definitely evident.
