In fact, Roberts likes it so much that she decided to try her hand at the other side of the industry: designing. The actress is the latest guest bartender at BaubleBar, where she created a 20-piece collection of jewelry filled with both dainty and statement-making earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, and you can get your hands on it now. And just like the rest of BaubleBar's accessories, the collection is super-affordable (score!). We caught up with Roberts to get the low down on what it was like designing jewelry, what inspires her, and what the one accessory is that she can't leave home without. Read on for the interview, plus head over to baublebar.com now to scoop up her jewelry collection. How was it being a designer for BaubleBar?It was amazing. I mean, I’ve wanted to do a collaboration of some kind since I was like 13 years old because I’ve always been so into fashion and so into jewelry, and over the past couple years it’s just been trying to figure out a collaboration that makes sense. And when BaubleBar approached me, I was just so excited because I’ve seen their jewelry and I really liked it and a bunch of my friends wore it, my little sister knew about it so I was like this would be so fun. What was the inspiration behind the collection?I love magazines and for the past 10 years I’ve been collecting cutouts from magazines—like my friends make fun of me because I literally just have shoe boxes full of different cutouts with different labels on them. And so I basically pulled photos from years ago, from a couple of months ago, I went online and I pulled stuff, and it was basically my kind of collage of inspiration that I handed over to the BaubleBar people to be like, this is kind of what I want to bring to the collection and this is stuff that inspires me. And it was really a very fun kind of creative, therapeutic way to go about the collaboration. What was the most fun about creating your collection?I think the most fun was going from carrying around a little notebook with my ideas in it to seeing the collection sent to me the other day. I was just like wow this is like nothing I’ve ever done, this is so crazy. And I was so excited. I was jumping around the house and my boyfriend was making fun of me because I was trying everything on at once--I was running around the house and I was like a little kid again. Do you have a favorite piece? My favorite piece is probably one of the necklaces called the Pearl Orwell Bib (pictured below, at right; $58, baublebar.com). And it’s basically like kind of feminine but also has flair to it, it has pearls but then spikes, and I kind of love that contrast. And it’s also something that you can wear daytime or night, and I’m kind of all about being able to go from daytime to nighttime without having to go home and change and so I love a piece that you can do both with. What's one accessory you can't leave home without?I never go anywhere without sunglasses. I have so many pairs of sunglasses. For jewelry, I have these little studs that I always wear that I got as a gift from someone special. But now with my BaubleBar collaboration, I’m changing accessories like twice a day because I want to wear everything because I love it all. And I would say the piece from the collection that I can’t live without is this necklace that has literally all different colors, it’s called the Rainbow Frank Collar (pictured above, at left; $68, baublebar.com), and I just am obsessed with it. When you see it, you’ll see why. It’s like a big piece of candy, it’s so inviting. Plus, check out Roberts' best looks ever in our gallery!
