Ellie Kemper Has a Hilarious Reason for Avoiding Social Media
Between her title role in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and her behind-the-scenes hustle (raising her 1-year-old son, James) Ellie Kemper has a lot on her plate. One thing she won’t be worrying about anytime soon? Social media.
Kemper, 37, is one of the increasingly few stars without a public Twitter and Instagram account, and her reasoning behind this is pretty simple: “Social media is a lot of work!”
Preach, Ellie. Preach.
At the Kate Spade x Man Repeller Leopard Leopard Leopard pop-up shop in N.Y.C., the comedian told InStyle that her lack of social media presence is “mostly laziness.” “I’m not taking a stand against it," she explained, "I just know that I would get caught up in it. I tend to get obsessed with things, so I worry that I would worry about it.”
Will she ever change her stance? “Yes. Maybe.” Well, there you have it.

Sadly, this means we don’t get to see baby James nearly enough—as in, Kemper has shared *one* photo of him with the public and we're desperate for more. Anyway, despite the lack of Ellie K. baby pics in our feed, we took our moment with the actress to quiz her on the tot.
“He’s just learned how to start testing limits,” Kemper shared. “If I say don’t do something, he looks at me out of the side of his eyes like ‘Does she mean it or not?’ And I do mean it! I guess all mothers feel this way, but he truly is the smartest baby I’ve ever met.”
Kemper’s not wrong—at just over a year old, baby James is already helping out around the house! “He loves to clean,” she told us. “He likes wiping surfaces and vacuums and sweeping.”
Ellie said she's toying with the idea of incorporating baby James's love of cleaning into his Halloween costume this year: “Maybe a chimney sweep?”
OK, Ellie, that costume idea alone deserves its own Instagram account.
