Emmys Nominee Ellie Kemper “Put in a Request” to Sit Next to Beyoncé
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Ellie Kemper may be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2016 Emmy Awards, but she’s just as much of a Beyoncé fan girl as the rest of us. The new mom walked the red carpet in a stunning yellow Jenny Packham gown and revealed her first request as an Emmy nominee: to sit next to Beyoncé.
“I put in a request. That was the first thing I did after I learned I was nominated,” she joked on E!. The iconic singer is also up for an award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for her visual album, Lemonade.

Queen Bey isn’t the only exciting part of Kemper’s life lately: She gave birth earlier this summer to her first child, a baby boy. “You know, it’s life-changing. Everything changes immediately. No sleep and lots of milk,” the funny lady joked. “It’s incredible how quickly and immediately it changes. You’re pregnant one day and you have a child the next. It’s a balancing act.”

While the actress admits she hasn’t yet figured it all out, she knows someone that she thinks would do a great job as a mother: her character, Kimmy Schmidt. “I think she would be a very optimistic, tenacious mom. I think she would endure those sleepless nights much better than I am,” she said. “I really do think there’s some profound wisdom in her mantra, which is to take things 10 seconds at a time.”
