Judging from Ellen Pompeo's Instagram account, her Italian getaway with daughters, Stella and Sienna, appeared to be picturesque, with snaps of idyllic sunsets and breathtaking architecture spread across social media.
Their time in Florence was seemingly splendid, that is until the family vacation hit a road block when the Grey's Anatomy star's purse was stolen by a thief. Pompeo announced the robbery on Instagram, writing: “My purse was stolen from right under my nose!!”
Despite the setback, the mom of three maintained a sense of humor throughout the scary situation. "I blame the rosé!!” she joked.
Oddly enough, the thief left the bag without stealing a single item, according to Pompeo. "Grazia to whoever stole it for dropping it on the street exactly intact," the 48-year-old actress said. "I was tracking my phone and chasing you down... had I caught you... it would not have ended well for you...“
"I am nice but let’s not forget my heritage... NAPOLITANO,” she added.
After ending her rant with a few Italian phrases and asking fans to forgive her elementary knowledge of the language, her Grey's Anatomy co-star Giacomo Gianniotto, who was born in Rome, offered his assistance for catching the robber.
"Cmon Ellen! You didn't hit up your boy for an Italian translation?" he inquired. "I'll be there in July and I'll be on the prowl for your boy, he don't stand a chance. Glad you are safe!"
