In case she didn’t already look enough like a princess in her white Georges Hobeika dress, Elle Fanning adorned her hair with hand-painted silk flowers and flowing ribbons at London's Kensington Palace last week. The actress donned the floral crown for a Maleficent event, also attended by co-star Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt.

The headdress's garnishes came from VV Rouleaux, an Aladdin’s cave of trimmings that's filled with fringes, feathers, corsages, ribbons (55 colors of grosgrain alone), and tassels. The specialty store has long been a favorite with stylists, costumers, and designers—Manolo Blahnik sourced bobble-trim lampshade fringing and Tom Ford used double-sided emerald velvet ribbon from Rouleaux.

You can buy one of their fabulous ready-made hats or have one made to order. Savvy brides often head for the collection of vintage bridal accessories, including hand-made veils, headpieces, hats, and, er, birds. Or follow the example of Kate Middleton, who used cream silk-satin ribbons from VV Rouleaux for her bridesmaids’ dresses, and find the perfect shade of trim to match or contrast.
