We know Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson often plays a hero on the big screen, but this weekend he proved he is also one in real life. The actor, who is currently filming the Baywatch movie, decided to pay a little surprise visit to the young patients of the Pediatric Specialty Ward at the Memorial Health Children's Hospital in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday. Johnson had been filming scenes at the hospital and thought he would just "pop up to the ward."

He shared some great pictures of the day on his Instagram account with with some very sweet and heartfelt messages. Johnson wrote, "Awesome experience and THANK YOU to all the hard working and caring staff who helped make this visit possible. To all the kids I met - you guys keep smiling and staying strong. All the mamas and daddy's I met, y'all stay strong too. Gotta tell ya little stuff like this will always be the best part of fame."

First he shared a sweet snap of a young patient named Aiden having some serious fist bumpin' time writing, "Good Lord I wish I had Aiden's concentration when I was in my high school math classes. I wouldn't have failed Algebra twice."

He visited with another patient named Christopher whose mother had insisted the action star come visit her son who was actually a little older so was placed out of the children's ward. Johnson wrote, "I walked in and his smile lit up the room! And I mean lit that room up!;) We talked for a while about his family, his school and how hard he's working to eventually graduate AND we talked about how COOL all his scars are from his multiple surgeries - from his head to his chest - those scars are badges of honor and the reminder of how beyond tough this kid is." He also gave major kudos to Christopher's mom writing, "Made me think to give so much credit to these parents who would do anything to take their kid's pain away and ANYTHING to bring a smile to their faces. As a papa bear I understand. Glad this mom brought a smile to Christopher's face. And glad I got a chance to shake the hand of this very strong and inspiring young man."

But it was also a working weekend for Johnson as he shared another pic of him and co-star Zac Efron showing off their amazing physical prowess for the film in a pull up contest. He wrote, "Lifeguards are the fireman of the beach. I did 100 (over hand & wide grip) pull ups and @zacefron did 99. Valiant effort from the kid, but the OG pulled thru."

What a great guy!
