Meet the newest Disney princess! Yesterday, Disney announced that the beautiful Princess Elena of Avalor will make her debut in 2016 on a special episode of Sofia the First, the network's hit show for preschoolers. The Latina character will be voiced by Dominican Republic-born actress Aimee Carrero, who currently stars on the series Young & Hungry.

But just what will the new Disney princess be like? According to a statement from the network, Elena is "bold, caring, funny and clever—a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairy tale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore." And the news gets even better: Following Princess Elena's introduction on Sofia the First, the 16-year-old cartoon will star in her own spin-off series titled Elena of Avalor that will debut on Disney Junior later next year.
