It looks like Dior's new artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, will be bringing her first cruise collection for the fashion house to the City of Angeles, according to WWD, which reports that the style guru will show the designs there May 11. Earlier this year, Chiuri opened up about her spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection, saying, "I strive to be attentive and open to the world and to create fashion that resembles the women of today." "Fashion that corresponds to their changing needs, freed from the stereotypical categories of 'masculine/feminine,' 'young/not so young,' 'reason/emotion,' which nonetheless also happen to be complementary aspects." Antonio de Moraes Barros Filho/WireImage This is just the latest time Dior will take its cruise collection on the road (it has had previous shows in London and Monaco) and follows a trend of fashion designers traveling to L.A. to show their collections. Former Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane, for example, presented his fall menswear collection at the Hollywood Palladium ahead of New York Fashion Week in February of this year. Dior's Newest Campaign Sends a Bigger Message About Feminism Rebecca Minkoff, meanwhile, is scheduled to stage her next fashion show at the Grove in Los Angeles on Feb. 4, 2017, also a few days before NYFW.
