Happy 70th birthday to Diane Keaton! After almost 50 years in the spotlight, she's still the same powerhouse actress who first moved live-theater audiences before making her movie debut in 1970. Today, we honor Keaton for her incredible body of work and outstanding contributions to film.

In 1972, Keaton came to acting prominence with her first-ever major film role in The Godfather. From there on out, the actress's career picked up momentum and she went on to star in several Woody Allen films in the 1970s, including Play It Again, Sam (1972), Sleeper (1973), and Love and Death (1975). In later years, Keaton continued to make us laugh—and sometimes cry—in Hollywood hit movies, such as Baby Boom (1987), Father of the Bride (1991), The First Wives Club (1996), and The Family Stone (2005).

Today, we wish Keaton the happiest of birthdays and look forward to seeing what she's up to in the coming year. For instance, we can't wait to pick out Keaton's distinctive voice in the upcoming animated Pixar film, Finding Dory. Keaton is set to play Jenny, Dory's mother, in the film, which will hit theaters in June 2016. Happy birthday, Diane!
