Designer Jonathan Saunders Joins Diane von Furstenberg as Chief Creative Officer
When Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders announced the shuttering of his London-based eponymous label at the end of last year (with his spring 2016 collection being his last), the fashion set collectively mourned at the news. But that heartbreak only makes this announcement that much sweeter—Saunders has been named chief creative officer at Diane von Furstenberg and will begin his new role effective immediately.
"Jonathan's extraordinary passion for colors and prints, his effortless designs, and his desire to make women feel beautiful make him the perfect creative force to lead DVF into the future,” said Diane von Furstenberg on WWD. "I could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer and I cannot wait to watch him shine as our chief creative officer."
With Saunders's use of brilliant prints and colors, and an eye for easy, flattering shapes and silhouettes (see his spring 2016 collection, above), this meeting-of-the-minds is, essentially, a match made in fashion heaven. What we can expect to see: A happy lineup of playful workwear pieces (perhaps even a refreshing take on DVF's iconic wrap dress) to take you from the office to drinks and anywhere in between.
