Derek Hough is back and better than ever. The sexy ballroom pro confirmed on social media Monday that he is returning for Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars by way of a tantalizing video that shows him dancing shirtless on a beach at dusk.
In the caption, Hough, 31, revealed that his fall schedule opened up unexpectedly after Singin' in the Rain's Broadway run was delayed due to a lack of available theaters. "I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason," he wrote, adding that Singin' in the Rain is still "very much part" of his future plans. Hough has been a regular on the reality dancing competition show for 16 seasons, but took a break from the show after a triumphant Season 21 win with Bindi Irwin to pursue other projects.
"It's always great to be back with my DWTS family, coaching, creating and making lasting memories," said Hough, who is also set to star as Corny Collins in NBC's Hairspray Live! in December. "I'm grateful to everyone at Hairspray Live for enabling me to do double duty on two major productions at the same time this fall. It's going to be a challenge that I'm looking forward to."
"This next year is gonna be JAM packed with exciting projects and I can't wait to share it ALL with you," he added. Watch his video here:
The latest season of DWTS is scheduled to air on Sept. 12 on ABC.
