Marvel's Runaways (Hulu, Dec. 21)
The teen comic book series adapted by The O.C.'s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage is back for its sophomore season later this month. Unlike its first season's weekly installments, the entirety of Runways' 13-episode second season will drop on Dec. 21, ensuring the perfect pre-Christmas binge. If you're not already hooked on the campy Hulu Original, allow these plot-points to inspire you: everyone's parents are evil, there is a PET DINOSAUR.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale (Netflix, Dec.14)
If you didn't get enough of Sabrina Spellman's spooky (and Netflix-exclusive) adventures, you're in for a holiday treat. Anyone who's watched even a minute of the comic-inspired series knows that A Midwinter's Tale isn't bound to be your typical Christmas special. While we don't know a lot about the episode itself (and we wouldn't want to spoil it, obvi),we can report that Kiernan Shipka's actual doppelganger (12-year-old McKenna Grace) will be featured as a young Sabrina. Until Dec. 14, witches!
Deal or No Deal (CNBC, Dec. 5)
Howie Mandel fans can rest easy, the actor and TV host has a new (er, old?) gig: he's the host of Deal or No Deal (yes, again). The high-stakes game show has a new home at CNBC, and while Meghan Markle *probably* won't be holding a briefcase this time around, it seems like the reboot hasn't deviated much from its original form. Deal, Howie!
The Innocent Man (Netflix, Dec. 14)
This Netflix docuseries has all the makings of the next true-crime sensation (à la Making a Murderer). Based on John Grisham's first work of non-fiction (The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town), the six-part series explores the aftermath of two murders in the small town of Ada, Oklahoma that were committed in the '80s. As implied by the title, the failings of the justice system take this story from tragic anecdote to world-renowned murder trial.
Vanity Fair (Amazon Prime, Dec. 21)
Based on its namesake 1847 novel about a woman climbing her way to the top of English society, Amazon's upcoming miniseries joins a lengthy list of the work's adaptations (most notably the 2004 Reese Witherspoon film). Olivia Cooke (Thoroughbreds) stars as heroine Becky Sharp in the upcoming edition.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime, Dec. 5)
Amazon's awards darling is back with a 10-episode second season that promises to be just as quippy, nostalgic, and downright marvelous as its first.
