Fans of The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo, mark your calendars: Computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and her investigative journalist counterpart Mikael Blomkvist are returning in a brand-new installment. Today the publishers of the series announced that a fourth book, titled The Girl in the Spider's Web, will be released on September 1.
Unlike the previous three novels, The Girl in the Spider's Web will be written by David Lagercrantz, who is taking over the series in light of Stieg Larson's untimely passing. After the success of his books, Lagercrantz was chosen by Larson's estate and the author’s Swedish publisher to continue the series, and we have to say we're thrilled it's continuing. “Stieg Larsson was a master at creating complex narratives,” Lagercrantz said in a statement released through the publisher. “Narratives made all the more forceful because of the journalistic authority with which they were originally written. That was something that informed my approach to book four, and I’m confident Millennium readers will identify with the storylines in Spider’s Web.”
While there's not much info about the plot of the fourth book, we do have some clues. "The introduction of Silicon Valley as a locale and a character from the National Security Agency in a central role," Lagercrantz said. "There are even symbols and code.” Intriguing!
