Constance Wu Hasn't Actually Watched Hustlers

She might be the only person left.

While most of the world was enthralled with the lead-up to Hustlers and its ensuing release, one of the film's stars, Constance Wu, says that she hasn't seen the film yet. Why? She's too "self-critical," even though the film managed to snag a Golden Globe nomination and earned critical acclaim. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Wu explained that she's not against watching herself, it's just that Hustlers specifically is just different.

"I still haven’t seen it," Wu told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. "The last movie I saw of mine was Crazy Rich Asians."

She went on to say that she wanted to move on from the project and focus on the present moment, not stay focused on something that was already done.

"I thought, 'I want to focus on the present,'" she continued, "and not be self-critical and think too much [or] dwell too much on the past."

Entertainment Tonight reports that while she may not have seen the entire film, Wu has seen clips, including the now-iconic scene of her character, Destiny, watching Jennifer Lopez's character, Ramona, perform on a stripper pole. She told the magazine that it's a moment she'll never forget and that the depiction of awe and admiration is 100% sincere.

"I thought it was a scene of love — not romantic love, just love," she said of the scene. "That was easy to fall into, because I've admired Jen my whole life. She's a special person, not just her talent and career, but her soul, spirit, caring, and work ethic. Destiny is in awe of Ramona, and I, Constance, am in awe of Jennifer."
