Sky blue is lighter than lapis and sweeter than cobalt. It's a subtle pastel that stands out amongst the rest. The slightly dusty cast is especially elegant on outerwear. Plus, surrounding yourself with blue has proven to lower your blood pressure and heart rate, says Kate Smith, a color expert at "Soft blues like this seem to have the most calming effect." Wearing it, she adds, also projects openness.

How To Wear It:Seek out pale pieces in heavier fabrics like wool to give the airy hue some weight. Then bring on the contrast: "I think this feminine color looks best when teaming with something hard, such as black leather wader boots," says Tibi designer Amy Smilovic, whose Fall 2014 look is pictured above (right).

What To Colors To Wear With It:Cozy neutrals like charcoal and cream give the pretty blue a soft landing, and looks fearlessly sophisticated with burgundy. Yet, a muted green is perhaps the most surprising; try it as just a touch, like a collar or sleeve peeking out, as shown at Gucci (above, left).

How to Do Your Makeup:According to makeup artist Pati Dubroff, "the softess of this blue" practically demands bright lips. "Like holding a red poppy against a clear vista, this cool pastel is the perfect backdrop for something vivid." Dubroff suggests opting for an on-trend orange or a fuchsia.
