But also really, it was getting married and having a child."
The longtime thesp tied the knot with her husband, James Heerdegen, in 2013 in an intimate ceremony in New York, wearing a white silk tulle Givenchy haute couture wedding gown. The couple went on to welcome their son Freddie in August 2014.
"I didn't realize how much growing up I had to do and how much better I could be," Ricci said of life before wedlock and motherhood. "And my marriage and my kid have really made me better."

"Usually when I'm off, I'm with my son," she continued. "When I'm not working, I try to be as full-time with him as I can be. Taking him to his play dates and nursery school."
Period drama Z is based on the life of Zelda Fitzgerald (played by Ricci), a talented Alabama-born socialite, novelist, and wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald, who becomes the original flapper and icon of the flamboyant Jazz Age in the 1920s.
