Chris Rock Helped His Daughters Make $65,243 Selling Girl Scout Cookies to Celebs at the Oscars
Take that Linda Dunn! After Chris Rock admitted that hosting this year's Oscars has kept him from taking part in Girl Scout cookie season, "a very important part" of his two daughters' lives, Hollywood dug deep to help out.
"Last night Zara, my youngest, called me up and said, 'Daddy, how come we never sell the most cookies? How come Mrs. Dunn wins every year?'" Rock told the audience. "It would mean so much to my little girl if we could beat Linda Dunn."
"I want you to reach into your millionaire pockets and I want you to buy some of my daughter's Girl Scout cookies. Are we going to deny my princesses from cookies?" he asked as a group of Girl Scouts entered the crowd armed with boxes of cookies. "Alright, Tina Fey, get that money, girl. Charlize Theron, yes. Matt Damon, yes. Leo, you made $30 million—come on!" he heckled the audience as they reached for their wallets.
The assembled A-listers went wild for the sweet treats, waving money in the air and digging in. Mindy Kaling snagged a box of samosas and even Vice President Joe Biden forked over $20 for the cause (below).
The guests must have been hungry, because later in the show Rock announced that the girls had collected a whopping $65,243—a pretty big leap from their $600 profit last year. Nice work, dad!
