This Is Why Kim Kardashian Is the “Face of a Generation”
For Monday’s inaugural InStyle Awards, Makeup Artist of the Year honoree Charlotte Tilbury (below) arrived with a glam crew of star clients that included Olivia Culpo, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Miranda Kerr. And while we’re sure that being surrounded by such beauty leads to plenty of inspiration, there’s one star in particular that the talent admires.
“I really think Kim [Kardashian] has become a face of a generation. I think that she is such a beauty icon. You know what I mean?” Tilbury told InStyle during the special celebration. “I think that the way that she looks, her beauty, the way that she does her makeup, the different styles that she does. She’s such an empowerment for all women in terms of beauty. People really look up to her and her beauty. She kind of settles the whole contouring trend. She sets trends in makeup.”
Tilbury dazzled in a strapless, embellished Antonio Berardi dress and—of course—rocked a beauty look featuring her own products. It was Kardashian, however, who stole the show in a white Valentino cape dress as she stepped onto the stage to present the makeup pro with the honor. “For me, it’s incredible that she loves my products and she loves working with me, and I love working with her," said Tilbury. "Again, incredibly blessed. Her whole family is amazing.”
“Congrats to @ctilburymakeup for winning makeup artist of the year award at last night’s InStyle Awards! I was so honored to present this special award to you!” Kardashian later wrote as the caption to an Instagram shot of the collaborative duo (below).
So how did it feel for Tilbury to be honored? “Honestly, it’s like living the dream. You’re kind of pinching yourself, is this really happening? It’s such an honor, such a privilege. It’s so emotional. It’s amazing … I feel like I’m living a dream.”
