A Charlie Brown Christmas Celebrates 50 Years on TV Tonight

It seems hard to believe that A Charlie Brown Christmas turns 50 this year. Yet, to this day it remains a must-watch holiday classic. The 25-minute special, which originally debuted on Dec. 9, 1965, chronicles a very sad Charlie Brown who just can’t get into the holiday groove. But, with the help of Lucy, Sally, Linus, Snoopy, and the world’s scrawniest Christmas tree, Charlie eventually discovers the true meaning of Christmas.

So, how can you watch it? ABC owns the exclusive rights—good grief!—which means they control when it goes on air. This year, it’ll be on twice.

Ensure you don’t have a major case of holiday FOMO by clearing your schedules or setting your DVRs to capture Charles Schulz’s crew for the first airing on Nov. 30 at 9 p.m. ET (and don't miss the Kristen Bell-hosted special It's Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown prior to it at 8 p.m. ET). The second showing takes place Dec. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
