Today we toast to what would have been the 88th birthday of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe. The blonde bombshell still inspires us to this day—and we can now channel the star’s iconic style by slipping on a pair of sunnies in her namesake.

Allure Eyewear and Authentic Brands Group recently launched a collection of limited-edition sunglasses called The Marilyn ($495). The quintessential 1960s cat-eye shades were inspired by the sexy costumes that Monroe wore in the classic 1959 film Some Like It Hot. The exclusive custom material is created using an intricate lamination technique involving hand-made acetate and laser-cut metal. Available in three colors (red, silver, and black), the frames are each finished with 125 delicate Swarovski crystals, which add an extra touch of femininity. After all, diamonds are a girl's best friend, right?

In honor of Marilyn’s birth year, 1926, only 926 pairs will be created. Each piece is one of a kind (you’ll find the distinct edition number etched in gold upon the inner temple of the frame) and 100 percent of the profits from The Marilyn sunglasses will be donated from Allure Eyewear to Hollygrove, the orphanage where Monroe once lived during childhood, which is now an EMQ FamiliesFirst agency dedicated to helping children in crisis.

“Marilyn Monroe Eyewear has been an incredibly captivating and inspiring project due to the fact that her legacy is so omnipresent and relevant today,” says Steve Clarke, Allure Eyewear's president. “We are excited about the products we’ve created as they’ve succeeded in translating beauty, glamour and timeless quality.” Specs-sporting celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker and Busy Philipps are fans.
