The CFDA Announces Its First-Ever Fashion Instagrammer of the Year Award

What's the easiest way to win a CFDA Award? Post some spectacular fashion photos on Instagram! The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced that they will give out the first ever Fashion Instagrammer of the Year Award as part of the 2014 CFDA Awards.

An exclusive selection committee of fashion influencers, which included this year's CFDA nominees for womenswear, menswear, and accessories (such as Rachel Zoe, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, and Proenza Schouler), nominated eight incredible Instagrammers for the new category. The expert shutterbugs who are up for the honor are @aguynamedpatrick, @donalddrawbertson, @amy_stone, @dapperlou, @paridust, @troprouge, @hokaytokay, and @bessnyc4.

Their stylish Instagram accounts show that a stellar fashion snap might feature food, selfies (of course!), flora and fauna, or collages of campaign images—though most of the nominated 'grammers typically post a variety of types of shots.

Each of the nominees will have the opportunity to follow around a designer and document their CFDA Awards experience using—you guessed it!—Instagram. The winner of the CFDA's Fashion Instagrammer title won't actually receive an award onstage at the 2014 ceremony (which takes place June 2); instead, he or she will be announced May 30, be dressed by a designer nominee, and attend the event as the CFDA’s official Instagram correspondent.
